Hi Friends!
I hope all is well!
Happy Wellness Wednesday,
The last time we spoke, my focus for the new year was intentional. I want to use my time wisely and incorporate more veggies into my daily routine. Growing up with my aunts and uncles, and my grandma reminded me of how they went about their daily lives with purpose in mind. That is how I want to celebrate this year and beyond.
Now, you might be wondering how eating more plants ties into this. Well, for one, whatever goal you want to accomplish, goes hand and hand with understanding the importance of having the right tools needed to achieving it.
Before we get started, it is important to know that you have the right to choose the style of eating that works best for your body and makes you feel good. In my experience, eating a balanced diet of protein, healthy fats, and healthy carbs makes you feel full and satisfied. I’m not advocating for a specific diet, but I’m advocating for incorporating more plants into your daily lifestyle.
Whether you are plant-based, vegan, vegetarian, keto, pescatarian, or flexitarian, we all can agree on one- thing, we should incorporate more plant-based foods into your diet. Cooking from scratch using whole, fresh, unprocessed ingredients is one of the most nourishing gifts we can give ourselves and our families.
No matter what your goal is, extending and improving your wellness should always be a top priority. Vegetables and fruits have health-protective compounds that add to your cells and protect you from free radicals.
According to the CDC, only 1 in 10 adults consume enough fruits and vegetables daily.
Here are some tips to keep in mind:
· Prioritize your wellness by adding more fruits and veggies to your diet.
· Meals must be nourishing, nutrient-dense, vegetable-forward, and satisfying.
· Include all colors of fruits and vegetables in your daily meals.
· Experiment with trying new plant-based foods and learn the basics of nutrition.
· Avoid the restrictive mindset and focus on small changes to your diet and lifestyle.
Leave room for life and don’t be too hard on yourself.
Life is unpredictable, and sometimes we may lose sight of our important goals. But it is okay to stumble and fall, once you pick yourself up and try again.
Take the opportunity to learn, grow, and move forward.
